Nicey Jane

It's a wintry, blissful day today in Wisconsin (the calm before the 6+ inches of snow we're due for this evening!) ... but I'm longing for spring dresses and bike rides, and picnics thanks to this:

Heather Bailey just revealed her NEW collection, Nicey Jane, and it's show stopping. Check out this fun feature she put together.

I've been collecting my favorite little pieces of vintage floral fabrics lately and trying to imagine what to do with them (one delightful thing already in process, but not ready to be revealed) but I cannot wait to get my hands on some of these prints .. I see a new wardrobe being dreamed up.

Snow ...

First signs of snowfall this morning! Heading out to our car with these plump snowflakes on the hood, my husband says "wow, look at those snowflakes, they're ...." (I took his ... as a 'fill-in-the-blank' moment) "yes, they're FAT" I said. His response, "oh. I was going to say pretty."

So my first reaction to winter wasn't the greatest ... but can you help the spirit of it catch you up? This weekend I'm going to be listening to this

and making these. I've never even had a macaroon, but I see them all the time and they're so delightfully beautiful - they must be yummy too, right?

A lot of my evenings have been ending like this lately:

Staying up WAY to late drawing up sketches and bids for Etsy clients: I've got some projects coming up that I'm really excited about, of which I will be sharing soon!

So I took a quick break last wednesday to sew up something cute and special for our new baby friend, Xander! I wanted to make him a super cute, but super 'masculine' little outfit (read: chic, girly mom and super cool guitar-playing dad) so I wanted to make up a little something that would please both of them!

I just cut and then machine appliqued the tie and guitar onto prebought onesies. The pants I made up using a pair of baby pants we have as a pattern. To offset the polkadots, I added a 'manly' back pocket:

Next time around, I will take the time to put iron-on the appliques first, so they sit still as I manipulate them through the sewing machine! But they came out just the way I wanted them to otherwise :)
